CITRONELLA

ABOUT CITRONELLA OIL

Citronella is a grass closely related to Lemongrass which is native to Sri Lanka and now grows widely in Asia and elsewhere. We currently offer certified organic Citronella oil from Sri Lanka, it has a fine fresh lemony aroma.

Citronella is widely used as an insect repellent. It has the advantage of being non toxic to humans as well as offensive to insects. It is also a really good all round ‘odour eater’.

METHODS OF USE

BURNER - To repell insects or dispell unpleasant odours add approx. 8-10 drops to your burner.

GARDEN - Sprinkle a few drops (every couple of days or each day in rainy periods) around a small area requiring protection from cats or other animals.

MOP - To freshen up the mop add 4-6 drops of citronella to the water in the bucket.

INSECT REPELLENT - a few drops on a handkerchief (& worn around the neck) or a few drops on the bottom of trouser legs. Or dilute 30 drops of Citronella into 100ml Sweet Almond or any carrier Oil and apply. Essential oils should not be worn in strong, direct sunlight. Those with extremely sensitive skin should use with care or apply to clothes, as directed below.

A spray bottle can be very effective. Using 100ml of water (or Lavender water) add 5ml of Citronella (you could lessen the Citronella and add Lavender/MayChang/Tea Tree oil if the scent of Citronella is not your favorite). For best results, blend the oil in a little alcohol before adding to water. Shake vigorously before using to disperse oil. You can spray onto clothes before going outdoors or around a room. To be continually effective regular reapplication is necessary.

Certified Organic Citronella oil is available in
20ml bottles in 1 x 3’s.
