Spring 2000

If you had asked me 6 months ago, what I knew about tee tree oil, I would have told you that its an essential oil derived from a plant native to Australia. in fact I remember vividly seeing tee trees growing wild down the coast whilst holidaying with my family as a child.

It was while traveling in India that I realized it’s potentially powerful antisceptic properties, and I now wouldn’t consider using anything else.

As a registered nurse with a medical background, I was at first sceptical believing in the healing powers of an all-natural product, but the results I experienced were astounding. I was an Australian, working at the Mater Misericordiae in Dublin, when I decided to continue with my travels. After talking to a friend who had already travelled through India, she insisted that I include a tub of tee tree cream in my first aid kit. It was the best advice given to me and the most frequently used item in that kit.

As a registered nurse with a medical background, I was at first sceptical believing in the healing powers of an all-natural product, but the results I experienced were astounding. I was an Australian, working at the Mater Misericordiae in Dublin, when I decided to continue with my travels. It didn’t take me long to realize just how poor the standard of living was in India. Basic hygiene requirements in many areas were not met; it definitely was not the place to need medical attention! So when 2 months into my journey I fell off my motorbike and encountered some serious injuries things were not looking too good! I had quite deep lacerations to my legs, which needed special attention to avoid infection. I was using various types of powders and solutions I had with me as well as some purchased from the local chemists to help speed up the healing process. Because of high temperatures and humidity combined with poor conditions and flies in plague proportions, keeping my injuries clean to help promote this healing process proved very difficult indeed.

Fed up with my situation, sore and feeling sorry for myself, I thought I'd try the tee tree cream. I was amazed at the results. It provided coverage for my open wounds with a barrier of protection whilst granulation of new skin tissue was rapidly occurring underneath. It sped up healing, decreased pain and inflammation and put a halt to infection with its fantastic cleansing powers.

I’m now back home enjoying’ the comforts of Australia and I still use tee tree cream on a daily basis. I use it for any skin condition, cuts, bruises, pimples, dryness and basically as an all round moisturizer. It really is a “cure all” cream and I highly recommend it for anyone and everyone.
