For this newsletter we feature Eucalyptus, traditionally used as a decongestant for respiratory ailments. The Eucalyptus tree originates in Australia, but is now cultivated in many parts of the world. Our oil originates from an organic production in Portugal, from the species eucalyptus globulus. Please note because this oil has not been processed it has a rich and powerful aroma which some people find too intense for their liking. However it is worth mentioning, Eucalyptus is almost always used as a medicinal oil rather than a favourite aroma for the house. If you do choose to burn it while suffering from a cold, try adding 2-3 drops of Lemon oil to mellow the aroma.

Koalas as seen above have special stomachs which enable them to digest eucalyptus leaves.
The Koalas smell of Eucalyptus and rarely suffer from insects.

On the subject of aromas, please note that oils are natural products and aromas will vary, often considerably, from batch to batch. This is particularly so with organic Lavender where oils from the same farm will vary from year to year and oils from the same year will vary from region to region. To a generation raised on uniform and synthetic industrial products, the magnificent variability of nature can be disconcerting and even a cause of bizarre indignation.

Base Cream
This is an unscented moisturising cream, suitable for application to face or body, manufactured for us locally. To create your own individual cream essential oils of your choice may be added. (see label for instructions). Fifty drops from an Atlantic Aromatics essential oil bottle in the full 50ml jar gives a 1% dilution suitable for most applications. To blend for a face cream or for sensitive skin use 25 drops.

The cream‚s ingredients include deionised water, vegetable derived butters and fats, and silicone of mineral origin. It is preserved with the natural antiseptic grapefruit seed extract (at 1%) and a low level of the synthetic preservative parabens (at 0.01%). This combination allows a shelf life of at least 2 years with a formulation as natural as is practical.

Best Before Dates / Tamper Proof Lids
While pure essential oils will keep indefinitely when unopened, both blended massage oils and floral waters have a limited shelf life. Hence we now supply these with tamperproof caps and a best before date.
