Atlantic Aromatics - The beginning
After studying Geology and Industrial Chemistry, I was living in Mayo, working in the laboratory in Ceimice Teo Syrup factory, Ballina. In 1983, my wife Aine went to America on holidays and brought back a Weleda Lavender Bath milk. I thought this was great stuff, and on my next trip to Dublin, searched for another bottle without success. Then I visited Greenacres in Fleet Street where Phil Guiney suggested I buy a bottle of pure Lavender oil instead. I later discovered Patchouli and Ylang Ylang oil, and the fact that different Lavender oils smelt different. And so a certain fascination developed and persisted. In 1984, the Cemice Teo factory closed. We had no prospects of employment so we opened a Health Food Shop, where among other things we sold essential oils. After a year we closed the shop and in November 1985 we began wholesaling oils to Health Stores. We started with supplying the Hopsack, Rathmines, and the Honey Pot, Clonmel followed by General Health (Nourish), The Nutkeg (Health Stores) and many more. to be continued |

Why do shops stock Atlantic oils?
Antonia Murray of Alive & Well, Carlow writes about our Sports/Aches & Pains Blend which has proved to be very popular. “Recently, my husband complained of a painful spot on his upper back. He was very unsettled and so I offered to massage the spot (even though completely untrained)! I found a small sample bottle of Atlantic Sports/Aches massage oil. There was a visible lump on one side of his upper back where the muscle was in spasm. After about 5 minutes of massaging the area, my husband went off to sleep. The next morning he said there was no longer any pain at all and the lump had completely disappeared. We are now regular users of the Sports/Aches massage blend. I have been using it on my shins which can get sore after exercise.” |
