Essential Oils

Essential oils are pure plant extracts distilled from herbs, flowers, leaves, woods and resins. The fragrance and the therapeutic powers are concentrated in the oils. Some have simple anti-microbial properties useful in treating infections.
Others are primarily helpful in bringing balance to the body and emotions. Each oil may have different uses e.g. an oil which may help the healing of a burn, may also be used to relieve insomnia

In using essential oils for general life-enhancing purposes choose the oils whose aromas you like best. These are probably the most suitable for you. Similarly, do not use an oil whose aroma you do not like unless it is prescribed for a specific purpose.

Massage & Body Oils
Everyone has an instinct to stroke a cat, to rub a tense tight shoulder, or, pat the back of an upset child. From this instinct derives all forms of massage. The benefits of massage are many. It stimulates the circulation of blood and lymph fluids, helping to detoxify the body. It helps to relax tensed, overworked muscles and to tone up weaker muscles. The addition of essential oils to massage blends adds an extra dimension.

Atlantic Aromatics Massage & Body oils are created both to promote relaxation and health and to help ease discomfort and pain related to a variety of ailments. The blends are ready to use directly from the bottle. Depending on the situation, they can be applied satisfactorily by oneself or by another person. While each one of the blends has unique properties and applications, here are some general guidelines for the use of the range

General Massage
For massage with aromatherapy oils, the emphasis is on gentle massage to stimulate the circulation and to facilitate the absorption of the oils rather than vigorous bodywork. Make sure the room is warm. Always massage upwards towards the heart. When massaging the abdomen, always move in a clockwise direction.

Massaging for aches and pains
Apply the oil to the affected area and rub in well for a few minutes, bearing in mind that the stimulating effect of the massaging is as important as the oils.
Repeat 2-3 times daily or as required.

For use as a Body oil
Apply the oil starting at the feet, gently working the oil into the skin using upward strokes, towards the heart. After a shower or bath, massage the oil into slightly damp skin as it is more easily applied and leaves less of an oily film. Regular application of quality oils has a moisturising effect on the skin and is beneficial to general health.

Aromatherapy bath treatment using Massage Blend
During a bath our pores open due to the heat. Because of this, oils are readily absorbed by the skin. Run the bath to the desired depth and temperature. For the best results, body brush for a few minutes – always stroking upwards towards the heart. Apply the chosen massage blend to the body. Carefully get into the bath and soak and, for maximum benefit, do not wash off after.

NOTE: Before using a blend for the first time patch test a small area to ensure oil suits your skin. The information on this website is not intended as a substitute for medical advice. If pregnant or suffering from a medical condition, consult your doctor before use.
