CERTIFIED ORGANIC ROSEWATER |
|
This genuine, naturally produced water is also called a floral water, hydrosol or hydrolat. About Floral waters: When plants are distilled the process produces a small amount of intensely fragrant essential oil which floats on top of a large volume of lightly fragrant floral water. Because a floral water is collected by the distillation process there are trace elements of essential oil in the water. The water therefore contains valuable therapeutic properties similar to those of the corresponding essential oil, although much milder. A floral water is generally suitable for use with young children and the elderly where the action of an essential oil may be too strong. A floral water can be used undiluted on the skin. In certain circumstances it can have essential oils added to it for specific treatments. Note: True Rosewater is something of a rarity. Many products sold as Rosewater are composed of entirely synthetic fragrances. Others are a mixture of rose extracts with surfactants. Others contain preservatives or alcohol which can irritate the skin.
